Lake District harpist available for weddings, functions and concerts. The harp is the perfect musical accompaniment for weddings. Romantic and intimate, it can give that extra sparkle to your special day. Every effort will be made by Clare to accommodate any special requests for pieces as long as reasonable notice is given. She is happy to play outside and to play in marquees as long as there is a level floor.
Clare began learning the piano and violin at the age of 7, taking the harp up a few years later.After studying privately with the Royal Northern College of Music Harp Tutor, she continued her training at Aberystwyth University.
Returning to Cumbria, she performed with various orchestras and as part of a flute and harp duo, as well as teaching at several schools. Over the last 15 years Clare has played at many weddings and functions, being a regular at several of the leading hotels in the Northwest as well as traveling to venues in the North East and the Scottish Borders. She has entertained at a wide range of other events from corporate dinners to small family parties, Scottish weddings to Medieval Fairs. Clare plays a modern copy of a 17th Century instrument, the Bohemian Troubadour harp which is reknowned for its resonance and sweetness of tone.
Clare has recently performed a series of solo concerts across the North of England and has released a CD 'On the Road', one review commented on her 'accomplished playing and beautiful singing voice which complimented each other perfectly' (Westmorland Gazette).
