Biography

This Suffolk harpist splits her time between London and Suffolk and has played with all the major London symphony orchestras, most regularly the London Philharmonic, and has been lucky enough to tour all of over the world. She also freelances with many of the leading chamber orchestras and was principal Harp with Northern Ballet Theatre for a number of years. As well as the purely Classical side of the business she is involved in the Theatrical world as Musical Director of the award winning children's show 'Cloudcuckooland'.

After reading music at Clare College, Cambridge, Helen became a scholar at the Royal College of Music. She was awarded funding by the Countess of Munster Fund and the Martin Musical Scholarship Fund for her postgraduate studies. She has also received money from the Loan Fund for Musical Instruments, the Abbado Trust, the RCM Alumni Fund and the Lady Clare Fund in order to facilitate the purchase of her harps. As a chamber musician she is active with the multi instrument group CHROMA, running their Friends Scheme and holding the positions of Secretary, as well as Harpist in the group.

Helen also has an active teaching practice which includes the positions of harp teacher at the Centre for Young Musicians at Morley College, Framlingham College and Ipswich School as well as a number of private students in both London and Suffolk. She also enjoys providing music for weddings and functions and likes talking through music options and arranging music where necessary, taking experience from her years of providing music for afternoon tea at the Landmark Hotel in London. It gives her great pleasure to add a touch of something special to the days proceedings.
