Biography
Edinburgh harpist Marnie is a harpist, singer and composer, who has been playing for concert venues and special events since the age of thirteen. She began her studies at age 10 in her hometown of Boise, Idaho, continuing on to complete her undergarduate studies at Indiana University, Bloomington, and her Master of Music at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. She is currently sharing her time between the US and the UK, performing at venues on both continents while continuing her academic research in PhD program at the University of Edinburgh.
As a singer / songwriter, Marnie has had considerable success, independently selling over 5000 copies of her debut album, Sunday Skies, and over 2000 copies of Lost Angles. Marnie's commitment to music has been enriched by her interest in film music. She completed the Film Scoring Program and the University of California, Los Angeles, and has been involved in several film scoring projects, incorporating her interest in film music into her academic pursuits.
Marnie has extensive experience playing for special events, including wedding ceremonies and receptions, private parties, corporate events, restaurants, and hotels. Her repertoire is varied, ranging from Medieval and Renaissance to Baroque, French Romantic, Modern, Celtic, Jazz, and popular selections.
Marnie can coordinate musicians and repertoire for small ensembles, such as flute and harp or harp and string trio, should the client desire a chamber sound. She can also provide music for harp and voice, and has a wide range of material for this type of performance.
