Biography
From Debussy to Dire Straits, Elgar to Enya, Mozart to Mancini! This talented duo present music that is varied, exciting, and appropriate to the occasion. They have wide experience of playing in any situation, from the gilded salons of stately homes to marquees in December!
This duo are professional musicians whose repertoire spans the centuries; they are happy to provide anything from a complete recital of classical pieces, to relaxing music to dine by for that corporate function or wedding reception. Any special musical requests will be considered and, if possible, catered for. They pride themselves on reliability and versatility, and enjoy a challenge. The harpist's most unusual booking (to date) has been to dress as a nun and play at midnight in a semi-derelict telephone exchange for a theatrical first-night party! The duo has also appeared dressed as angels for a charity function, complete with wings.
The Harpist began her studies in her native New Zealand, gaining two Diplomas and a Bachelor of Music degree. After completing an M.A. at the University of Wales, Cardiff, she returned to New Zealand and the post of Principal Harp with the New .Zealand Symphony Orchestra until 1989.
Since arriving in Britain, she has established a busy and successful freelance career, playing with many of this country's leading orchestras including the Halle, R.L.P.O., BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, R.P.O., Ulster Orchestra and Sinfonia Viva.
Her work takes her throughout the UK and Europe, with touring musicals, ballet companies and orchestras. She has played at the Proms and at the Royal Opera house, Covent Garden, and her playing has featured on several orchestral and solo C D's. For many years she appeared with the Performing Arts Symphony Orchestra at their summer season of concerts in the grounds of stately homes and castles throughout England and Wales.
Anna is also much in demand as a solo harpist for corporate functions and weddings.
The Flautist studied at the RNCM and was a prizewinner in the Young Artists' competition of the International Flute Association, held in the USA . She is Principal Flute with Sinfonia Viva, for many years performed with the Performing Arts Symphony Orchestra, and is a member of the chamber ensemble Zephyr Winds. As a freelance performer she plays with many of Britain's leading orchestras, including the Halle and Philharmonia. She teaches at the Junior School at the RNCM, Chetham's School of Music and Lancaster University.
For several years they have successfully developed and presented music sessions for preschool children and carers in public libraries. They also have a programme of workshops and recitals for older children, available to schools
