Biography
Marie was brought up in Morayshire, Scotland and her first musical experiences are still an influence today. At the age of five she began playing the piano with the late Barbara Stewart and was introduced to the world of classical music which she greatly enjoyed. A few years later she began singing Gaelic song with it's own pure sound.
Today her musical tastes range from Mozart to modern age spiritual music with much in between.
When the harp came into her life fourteen years ago, it was almost as if it provided a link between piano and voice. It too has a unique acoustic quality which Marie find inspiring. She now thoroughly enjoys bringing the harp and song combination to those who have perhaps never heard one before.
In 2005 Marie obtained a DipABRSM in Singing Teaching and hopes to be able to add to this in the future. Her most recent venture has been conducting the Bennachie Singers in Aberdeenshire. They have a wide ranging repertoire and have held a regional trophy for four years. The choir has performed locally for charity events.
